Wayne County, NC - Deed of Lofley, Pittman to Sears, Wm Smith-1804 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Meredith Clapper No. 15 North Carolina} To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting Wayne County} Know ye that I Pittman Lofley of Wayne County and state aforesaid planter for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and ten dollars to me paid before the ensealing and delivering of these presents by William Smith Sears of the County and state afresaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowedge that I am therewith fully satisfied contented and paid have bargained sold and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain set aline convey and confirm assign and set over unto him the said William Smith Sears his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece tract or parcel of land situated (lying) lying (sic) and being in the county of Wayne aforesaid on the North side of buck branch for one hundred acres of land more or less it being part of a tract of land granted by pattent to Daniel Lofly for two hundred and eighteen acres and bearing date 1784 and bounded as followith to wit: begining at a pine in John Worrell's line one the path that leads from Joh Howells to John Thompsons and runing with said Worrels line So 43 W to a read oak John Howells corner and thence So 32 E to a white oak said Howells corner and thence as the pattrin runs to Edmun Modlins line and then with Modlins line to a pine on the said path that leads from said Howells to said Thompsons and then with the said path to the begining to have and to hold the said bargained land and premises all and singular the improvements profits priviledges advantages and all the appurtanences thereunto belonging unto him the said Pitman Lofly his heirs and assigns forever and I the said Pitman Lofley doth for my self my heirs exectures administrators and assigns warrant and forever defend the said land and premises unto him the said William Smith Sears his heirs and assigns forever free and clear from me my heirs and assigns forever or any other persons and thereunto have set my hand and affixed my seal in the presents of us this day January the 16th 1804.
