Wayne County, NC - ASHER MCCULLEN, DIVISION OF LANDS, 1855 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County, NC Deed Book 24, pages 496-498: The following is the Commissioners division of the lands of Asher McCullen constituting the dower of his widow Ann McCullen: State of North Carolina} Wayne County} Feb Term 1855} To the worshipful the Justices of the court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions_We the undersigned Commissioners appointed by the court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of said County, having been duly sworn proceeded on the 5th day of Decr. 1854 to divide and make partition between & among the heirs of Marshall Kornegay in right of Calvin J. McCullen [see following deed from Calvin J McCullen to Marshal Kornegay], Franklin McCullen & right of William McCullen the heirs of Susan Byrd, Susan Hooks in right of her mother Ann Jernigan, Jane Bennett, Betsey Craddock, tenants, in common of the lands descended to them as children & heirs at law of Ann McCullen. Whereupon we have made & do hereby make the following appropriation among the respective claimants in severalty_that is to say: Lot No. 1 is set off & apportioned to the heirs of Marshall Kornegay in right Calvin McCullen in severalty, bounded as follows, beginning at a stake, formerly Post oak, Dawson Durham's corner & runs South 15 West 204 poles to a pine, then South 48 West 99 1/2 poles to two post oaks in Mrs. Kornegay's field, then North 112 1/4 poles to a water oak then West 80 poles to a maple then North 54 E 267 poles to the beginning containing one hundred and twenty acres valued at three hundred dollars_We further charge the more valuable dividends with such sums of money respectively to be paid to those of inferior value respectively as will make an equitable division...Lot No. 5... pays No. 1 sixty three 62/100 dollars...
