Wayne County, NC - Martha Howell Deed 1853 ----¤¤¤---- Estate of Martha Howell Wayne County 1853 This Indenture made on the 15th day of July One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Three between EDWIN R COX of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina on the other part And JOHN HOWELL, WILLIE PENDER, and wife CHELLY, GEORGE MITCHELL and wife NANCY of the county of Johnston and JOHN SNIPES and wife MILLY, JOHN HOWELL and wife LIZA of the County of Wayne all of the state of North Carolina and Heirs to the Estate of MARTHA HOWELL. All above named Heirs of MARTHA HOWELL dec. for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and fifteen dollars to them in hand paid by the said EDWIN R COX at the time of executing these present the receipt whereof is fully acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyd to the said EDWIN R COX his heirs and assigns forever their interest in a tract of land or parcel of land belonging to the estate of MARTHA HOWELL dec. lying in the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina on the East side of the Beaver Dam Swamp adjoining the lands of LOVITT PEACOCK and bounded as follows: Begining at a Poplar Stump runs thence along LOVITT PEACOCKS line to the crooked branch then down the meander of the branch to the Beaver Dam Swamp thence up the Beaver Dam Swamp to the begining containing One hundred Acres more or less To have and to hold our interest in the said land and premises and everything therein to belonging or in any ways appertaining to him the said EDWIN R COX his heirs and assigns _____ and there own proper use _____ simple forever. And the said JOHN HOWELL, WILLIE PENDER and wife CHELLY, GEORGE MITCHELL and wife NANCY, JOHN SNIPES and wife MILLY, JOHN HOWELL and wife LIZA heirs to the estate of MARTHA HOWELL dec. do warrant and forever defend the right and title and interest in the aforesaid land against any lawful claim or claims of any person or persons to the said EDWIN R COX his heirs and assigns forever.
