Nevill to Cullen A. Blackman West side of RR Wayne County Deed Book 23, p 252-253 This Indenture made this the third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four between Jesse P. Nevill of the State of North Carolina and county of Wayne of the one part and C. A. Blackman of the state and county above written of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jesse P. Nevill for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid or well secured to be paid by the said C. A. Blackman at and before the executing of these presents have given granted bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said C. A. Blackman his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in the state and county aforesaid near the Village of Everittsville on the west side of the Wilmington and Raleigh Rail road adjoining the land of Willis Hall, John Everitt and others bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a water oak on the west side of the said rail road said Hall’s corner and runs with his line north 87 west 88 poles to a stake in said line Kinchen B. Herring’s new corner, then with said Herrings and John Everitt’s lines north east 173 poles to a stake said Everitt’s corner, then with his line south 88 east 97 degrees to a small pine, then south 88 east 22 poles to a stake sixty feet from said rail road then down said rail road and parallel thereto to the beginning containing seventy eight and three fourth acres be the same more or less to have and to hold said land and premises with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said C. A. Blackman his heirs and assigns to his and their own proper use and behoof in fee simple forever free from the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever and the said J. P. Nevill doth for himself his heirs and assigns further covenant to and with the said C. A. Blackman his heirs and assigns that he is at the time of executing these presents signed and possessed of a good and indefeasible estate in and to the said land and premises and that he hath full power and lawful authority to convey the same in manner and form aforesaid. In witness whereof the said J. P. Nevill doth hereunto set his hand and seal the date above written. J. P. Nevill {Seal} Signed, Sealed and delivered in the presence of R. T. Haskins P. R. Hooks Wayne County Feby 22d 1854 Then was the within deed of sale from Jesse P. Nevill to Cullen A. Blackman duly proven before me by the oath of R. T.
