Wayne County, NC - Jacob Newsom to Simon Newsom, 1820

This indenture made the second of March One Thousand Eight Hundred and 
Twenty between JACOB NEWSOM of the State of North Carolina and County 
of Wayne of the one part and SIMON NEWSOM of the State and County 
aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said JACOB NEWSOM 
have for the goodwill and affection that I have to my son SIMON NEWSOM 
do give to him a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the 
County of Wayne containing 400 acres be the same more or less lying on 
the North side of Black Creek and on both sides of Arnolds Branch 
Patented by ISOM WATSON and THOS. WATERS beginning at a pine Ferrels 
Corner in the County Line and runs South 72 East 178 poles to a pine 
then North with Samuel Watsons line 127 poles to a water oak then down 
said swamp 85 East 165 poles to a maple North West 80 poles to the 
County Line then said County Line to the beginning to have and hold the 
said ____ tract or parcel of land with all the woods waters 
Conveniences and appurtenances thereunto belonging to or appertaining 
to the use and benefit of the said SIMON NEWSOM, his heirs, Executors, 
Administrators or assigns forever and I the said JACOB NEWSOM do for 
myself my heirs Executors Administrators or assigns quit claim and will 
warrant and forever defend the right and title of said land to him the 
said SIMON NEWSOM, his heirs and assigns against the right of all or 
any other person whatsoever by which it might be claimed or encumbered 
in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and 
year first above written.
