NC Vol. 7 page 64 Indenture of John Pickron (Pickering) to Exum Smyth This Indenture made the 4th day of Feby. in the year of our Lord 1800 be it known that I John Pickron of the County of Wayne and State of N. Carolina for and in consideration of the Sum of Twenty Pounds to me in hand paid by Exum Smyth at and before the sealing and signing of these presents the receipt and pay ment whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold aliened enfeoff and confirmed and I do hereby bargain sold alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Exum Smyth his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of Land lying and being as follows in the County of Wayne and on the No. side of The great Swamp and So. side of Cotentney Creek beginning at a Red Oak in Thos. Hornes line and runs his line So. 141 pole to a pine in Lanes line then with his line Wst? 50 pole to a pine his corner then with his line So. 125 pole to a pine his beginning tract and Parkers corner then with Parkers line So. 48 pole to a Red oak Kings corner then with his line Wst. 54 pole to a small post oak Ten Steps So. of Hedgepeths corner a post oak Then with his line No. 222 pole to a Red Oak his corner in Shadrack Simms line then with his line to The Beginning containing One hundred and nineteen acres as will appear by pattent Granted Thomas Airs in the year of our Lord 1797 to have and to hold the said piece or parcel of Land with all ways woods waters and every other appurtenence thereunto be longing or appertaining to him the said Exum Smyth heirs or assigns for ever in fee simple and I for myself my heirs, excrs. and admirs. do hereby cove- nant and promise to and with the said Exum Smyth heirs or assigns that I by myself my heirs exers. and admirs. Shall and will warrant and forever defend the said piece or parcel of Land with all and every of its members and appurtenances free from all lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said Exum Smyth his heirs and assigns for ever In witness whereof I have thereunto set my hand and seal the day above written.
