Wayne County, NC - Deed - William Pipkin to Alfred King, 1838 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Indenture made the twenty third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight between William Pipkin of the State of North Carolina and county of Wayne of the one part and Alred King of the county and the State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that I the sd William Pipkin for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by the said Alford King before the signing and delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged the said William Pipkin have bargained and sold unto him the said Alfred King his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Wayne aforesaid on both sides of Kelleys branch and bounded as follows (Vizt) begining at a water oak on the run of Kelleys branch the said Alford King uper corner and runs with his line N 49 1/2 78 poles to a pine then N 48 W 60 1/2 poles to a stake and pointers then N 8 1/2 W 116 1/2 poles to a post oak then S 61 W 56 poles to a stake and pointers the last corner of a patent granted to Jno Bradshaw for 500 acres then with the given line of sd patent N 46 W 165 poles to a lightwood stump then S 14 W 308 poles to a small pine in the 3rd line of said patent then with the patent line thro Cogdells field N 48 1/2 Et 107 1/2 poles to a pine on the run of Kelleys branch a little above the pond then down the meanders of sd Kelleys branch to the first station containing two hundred and seventy two acres and one quarter To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises together with all and singular the profits benefits preveleges and appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appurtaining unto him the said Alfred King his heirs and assigns forever free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever and I the said William Pipkin do by these presents covenant promise and agree to bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the above mentioned land and premises from or against the lawful claim or claims of any manner of person or persons whatsoever unto him the said Alfred King his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever In witness whereof I the said William Pipkin hath here unto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Oates L Lewis William (his x mark) Pipkin Bryant (his x mark) Macwilliam Wayne County Augt Term 1838 Then was the above deed of sale from Wm Pipkin to Alfred King duly acknowledged in open court Let it be Registered Jno A.
