Wayne County, NC - John C. Broadhurst Deed, 1848 ~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County, NC, Deed Book 21, pg 28 This indenture made and entered into this first day of February, 1848 by and between John C. Broadhurst of Wayne County, NC of the one part and Anne Roberts of same place of the other part. Witnessed that the said John C. Broadhurst for and in consideration of the sum of $25 a year paid annually by said Anne Roberts to said John C. Broadhurst, hath given, granted, bargained and sold and will by these presents give, grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Anne Roberts during the term of the natural life of said Anne Roberts all that tract of land being and lying in Wayne County, NC adjoining the lands of said Anne Roberts and others, it being the lands which fell to the said John C. Broadhurst in right of his wife Susan J. Roberts Broadhurst, formerly Susan J. Roberts in the division of the lands of John Roberts, deceased, late of Wayne County, NC and at the death of the said Anne Roberts, for the natural love and affection which the said John C. Broadhurst has and bears for his children: Thomas Woodley, Mary Anne, and Martha Margaret Broadhurst, and for the further sum of $1 to him in hand paid, the said John C. Broadhurst hath given, granted, bargained and sold to the said Thomas Woodley, Mary Anne, and Martha Margaret Broadhurst all the right, title and interest which he may have at the death of Anne Roberts. To have and to hold the said bargained land and premises with all and singular appurtenances thereunto belonging, first to the said Anne Roberts for and during the time of her natural life and after her death to the said Thomas Woodley, Mary Anne and Martha Margaret Broadhurst, children of the said John C. Broadhurst and Susan J. Broadhurst his deceased wife, in fee simple and the said John C. Broadhurst will by these presents forever warrant and defend to the said parties all the rights, title, and interest which he has in and to said land. In testimony whereof the said John C.
