NC Vol. 7 page 175 RICHARD CROOM TO WILLIAM SMITH (SMYTH) This Indenture made this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and One between Richard Croom of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina on the one part and William Smith of the County and State aforesaid on the other part Witnesseth that the Said Richard Croom for and in Consideration of the Sum of ninety dollars to him in hand paid by the said William Smith at and before the Sealing and Signing of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the Said Richard Croom hath granted bargained and Sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and Sell unto the said William Smith his Heirs Executors Administrators or assigns a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina on the So. side of Bear Creek beginning at a maple in the fork of the Pasture branch oposite William Smiths House and runs up the old line of marked trees made by Benjamin Smith and Arthur Williams to a Stooping pine in said line then in agreed line of marked trees down a Slash to the said pasture branch to a White Oak on the side of the branch then down the Said branch to the beginning containing Thirty acres of Land be the same more or less With all the appurtenances Priv- eliges and Commodities to the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining and the rents issues and profits of the said premises and of every part and parcel thereof and also the Estate Right title Interest claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Richard Croom of in and to the said land and previous and every part thereof to have and to hold the said and all and Singular other the Premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said bargained premises his Heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said William Smyth his Heirs and assigns forever and the said Richard Croom for himself and his Heirs the said bargained land and premises and every part thereof against him and his Heirs and against all and every person and persons whatsoever to the said William Smyth his Heirs and assigns shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents in Witness whereof the said Richard Croom hath herewith set his hand and seal the day and year above Written.
