RHEA COUNTY, TENNESSEE - Conveyance William WHITFIELD to Needham WHITFIELD File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Judy Wright Deed Book E p. 111 Copy of a Conveyance William WHITFIELD to Needham WHITFIELD 400 acres and 200 acres in Knox County and 416 1/2 acres on the North side Tennessee River. To all people to who these presents shall come. Greetings. Know ye that I William Whitfield of Wayne and State of North Carolina for and in Consideration of the natural love, goodwill and natural affection that I have and do bear unto my son Needham Whitfield, and for many other good causes have given and granted and do by these presents give grant and make over unto him the said Needham Whitfield his heirs or assigns forever the following messuages, tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the Western Territory, to wit: One survey of four hundred acres in the County of Knox lying on both sides of the North Fork of Bull run that makes into Clinch River. Beginning at a beach on a little Island of the creek Needham Whitfield corner and runs West 280 poles to a chesnut; then South 200 poles to a white oak; then East 320 poles to a stake and then North 200 poles to a stake; then West 40 poles to the beginning, granted to me the said William Whitfield the 11th day of July 1788. And two hundred acres, being the one half of a four hundred acre survey in the County of Knox and on the West side of Copper ridge on a prong of Bull run. Beginning at a stake in the middle of the second line of said Patent, Bryan Whitfields corner, and runs East 126 1/2 poles to a stake; then South 253 poles to a chestnut, then West 126 1/2 poles to a stake, then across the Patent North 253 poles to the beginning, granted to me the said William Whitfield the 11th day of July 1788. And four hundred sixteen and one half acres lying on the North side of Tennessee River it being one half of my one third of a survey granted to Joseph GREEN , myself, and Needham WHITFIELD for 2500 acres. Containing in the whole one thousand sixteen and one half acres. To have and to hold the aforesaid lands and premises....unto the said Needham Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I the said William Whitfield have hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this 31st day of March 1796. William Whitfield Signed sealed and delivered in presence of John KITHLEY B. Ramsey Register of Knox County do certify that the above is a true copy of the Registered Books of this County of a conveyance from William Whitfield to Needham Whitfield as it stand recorded in Book B p. 93.
