Wayne County, NC - Anna Maria (Rhodes) Hill Letters ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ July 29th, 1840 Dear Mrs. Hill, I received your last letter and was glad to hear you ware all well, and sorry that my carelessness caused you to be so much disappointed some time ago. How I came to write you to send for me the 14 or 15 of this month I cannot imagine. I intended and thought I did write you to send the 24 or 25. I was not in love I assure you for I am not troubled with that disease much. Mrs. Hopton sent for me last sunday and I am with her now. I am so far on the way to see you and cannot get any farther unless you will send. If you will do so next monday the 3rd of August I will go and spend 8 or 10 days with you. If you do not send I expect to go home on tuesday. I am engaged another four months at Mrs. Thompsons. My school will commence on monday the 17th of August. If you have the opportunity of sending to Mr. Hoptons before monday let me know if you will comply with my request. I received a letter from Mrs. Bain a few days ago. They all are all well and expect to visit us on the first of October. You must excuse this scrall for I am in a great hurry and have not time to write any more. Give my love to Mrs. ___ and children. Miss Edy desires to be remembered to you all. I suppose Dr. Hill has forgotten me as he has never sent me his respects, but I cannot forget him. Please tear up this as soon as you read it as to not let any one see it. I am ashamed to send it to you but hope you will look over it. Your affectionate friend Eliza Mrs. Dr. B. L.
