Wayne County, NC - Anna Maria (Rhodes) Hill Letters ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Vernon November 24, 1847 Dearest Anna Your & your Pas seet short notes came to hand a few dayes ago. I surpose you had not received my last letter when you wrote, so you did not say a word a bout coming. I hope you have ere this & made up your mind to come. Let me know when you write again somthing certain a bout it. I shall send a trunk out to Mr James Griswold on Saterday next to get him to take out to you. It contains a dress for Betty & Scarfe, the same for Ann & Amanda, with each ones name pind to theirs. Also a dress for Sister Smith, also for Conna & Puss, Conna to have her choyes, flagelot for Bud, too dresses & a Cape for dear littel Jimma, 6 shemiss for your own Dear self, too gowns & 6 Capes & a Pocketbook, al the last mentioned articals you you. Your dress you must come & choose for your self. Four pare of Sockes for Uriah, quilt for the Dr Tell Brother & John I did not forget them, but geting sick so soon after geting to Wilmington I had no chance to select them a present but will remember them the first opertunity. We are in tolerable health & vary ancious to see you all. Your kind note relieved my mind vary much on Sisters account. You no Doubt are surprised I did not send the trunk by Cal Hill. I did not know thay were going untill four or five dayes befor. Thay left & your things ware not doon & I was not able to go with them when they started & besided I had writen for you & the Dr & I ware vary much in hopes you would be on your way hear. If Mrs Hill goes to see you give her my love & tell her I was waiting for her promesed letter. Remember me affectionatly to your Dear Husband & tell him it has been more then a year since I have seen him or you. Also too all my relations. Oh I had like to forget to tell you that I saw your New York Beau last Sabath, Mr Coner. He seemed much pleased to see me & enquired a bout your Pas health. We have nothing new or enteresting hear to present, so as I want to say a few wordes to your Pa I will bid my Dear Anna good by with the fond hope of meeting her hear.
