The location of the school was promoted as being very healthy and easily accessible from the railroad. June 17, 1846 The School is conducted by Misses A. J. Lester and E. L. Haskill. The Academy building is two stories high, with four rooms, all well finished. J. C. Slocumb, Sec'y Board of Trustees March 20, 1849 Under the management of Misses Richardson and Snyden. The Trustees have provided a large and commodious Boarding House, which is kept by Mr. and Mrs. Morisey. January 3, 1850 Under the management of Miss Sherbrook. November 27, 1850 Conducted by the Rev. J. J. Smyth and Lady, late of Virginia. Feburary 11, 1853 Under the charge of Mr. J. D. Campbell, late of Virginia, Principal.
