Fields, James A., Private
Co. E, 20th Regiment NC Troops
Resided in Wayne County, NC and enlisted at Camp Holmes on October 18, 1864 
for the war. Present or accounted for through December, 1864. Paroled at 
Goldsboro 1865. (North Carolina pension records indicate he was wounded at 
Monk Neck Bridge, Virginia, in 1864)

Company E was known as Confederate Grays and Duplin Grays and was raised in 
Duplin County, NC.
