Baxter Durham, Dear Baxter; I am sending application for increase in pension for Miss Nannie Hill. I know all about this case. I visited her home yesterday and am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that her case is a meritorious one and I want you to see to it that if anybody in North Carolina gets an increase in pension that she stands at the head of the list. If there is anything further that you want to know about her, write me and I will get the desired information. If there is not - send the big check instead of the small one; as the old gang down here has got wrinkles in their bellies like washboards and their chitterlings rattle like liquor in a poor dog, and if you don't help us I don't know what in the devil will become of us. Thanking you in advance for your interest in this case, and assuring you of my support, and assuring you of my friendship, I am Very respectfully, R.H.
