Wayne County, NC - Pension Application, Curtis Mitchell ----¤¤¤---- SOLDIERS APPLICATION FOR PENSION STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA On this 6 day of July A.D. 1903, personally appeared before me,??Ormond; C.S.C. in and for the State and County aforesaid, CURTIS MITCHELL, age 80 years, and a resident at Princeton, makes the folowing declaration in order to obtain the pension under the provision of an act entitled "An Act to amend Chapter 332 of the Laws of 1901, for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers, Sailors and Widows, ratified March 2 1903: That he Is the identical CURTIS MITCHELL who enlisted in Co. H 16th Bat.(entered in the roster on the 11th Bat.)NC State Troops on or about 1863 to serve in the armies of the late Confederate States. Signature: CURTIS MITCHELL Also appeared before me JOHN W. MITCHELL who resides at Goldsboro post-office, in said County and State, a person whom I know to be respectable and entitled to credit, and being duly sworn says he is aquainted with CURTIS MITCHELL, the applicant for pension, and he has every reason to believe that he is the identical person he represents him to be, and that the facts set forth in this affidivate are correct to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that he has no interest, direct or indirect, in this claim. Witness: JOHN W. MITCHELL CURTIS MITCHELL served with the 62nd GA Calvary Co. H. In 1864 the 62nd GA Calvary was changed to the 8th GA Calvary. He enlisted at 40 years of age. STEPHEN MITCHELL brother to CURTIS MITCHELL also served with 62nd GA Calvary Co. H, and in 1864 the 8th GA Calvary. STEPHEN MITCHELL enlisted in 1861, he was 35 years old.
