Wayne County North Carolina American Revolutionary War Patriots

While researching my mother’s family tree, I currently have identified 36 
of my ancestors (4th, 5th, or 6th Great-Grand Parents) who were living 
during the time of the American Revolutionary War. Over several years, I 
have submitted 16 applications to the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) 
as proof I am a direct descendent of a Revolutionary War Patriot. To-date, 
the 16 applications listed below have been approved by the SAR.

As these applications contain verified facts on ancestors living in and 
around Wayne County, North Carolina back to the 1700’s, I wanted to share 
this information with other family researchers. As the actual SAR approved 
applications are copyrighted and can’t be publicly shared, there are other 
free resources to obtain most of the genealogical information in these 
applications.

Both the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Sons of the 
American Revolution (SAR) provide free access to search for possible patriot 
ancestors who have been previously approved. 

The DAR website (www.dar.org) provides genealogical search tools 
(https://www.dar.org/national-society/genealogy) in their Genealogical 
Research (GRS) section. The SAR website (www.sar.org) provides genealogical 
search tools (https://sarpatriots.sar.org/) in their Patriot Research System 
(PRS) using the Search Menu Bar at the top of the web page.

The DAR Ancestor and/or SAR Patriot Numbers in the table above identify 
existing records for my proven patriot ancestors that will display several 
generations of genealogical data that may be useful in your research. 

Anyone researching their Wayne County, North Carolina ancestors should use

and while using these tools, you may find out you are a direct descendant
