Ezekiel Slocumb moved down stream during the battle, forded the creek, penetrated the swamp, and made a furiuous charge on the flank of the tory forces. This action decided the fate of the day in the battle of Moores Creek Bridge. When his unit attacked the loyalists, they broke and ran. Slocumb's unit pursued them until the partiots captured a wagon from the fleeing soldiers. The wagon contained three hundred guns and seventy five guineas.
