Our correspondent writes -- by the dignity, decorum and intelligence that might be expected from men of education and piety. From the beginning of their sessions, the people from the surrounding country began to assemble, until on Sunday, such a multitude of the most refined and intelligent of our citizens from Sampson, Duplin, Wilmington and elsewhere were congregated as Everettsville had never before witnessed. But one opinion has been expressed of the gratification and pleasure enjoyed by all. The deliberations and proceedings of the Presbytery proper were a perfect model of our beautiful Republicanism and the preachings of the several ministers were marked by the wisdom, piety and zeal which might be expected from men bearing such names as McLean, McNeil, McAlister, McNair and others carrying us in thought to the mountains and the glens of their brave, pious and study fore fathers. We cannot forbear mentioning with peculiar pleasure the learned and impressively eloquent discourse of the Rev. Mr. Owen, from a neighboring Presbytery, which was delivered to a delighted multitude on Sunday Morning. Our correspondent also mentions in approving terms "the taste and liberality manifested by the citizens of Everettsville in the erection and fitting up of two most beautiful Churches, occupied by the Methodists and Presbyterians and of the elegant hospitality extended to every visitor on the recent occasion by all denominations. This is as it should be. Such meetings and such scenes are the best and most effectual guaranties for and assurances of our happiness and prosperity as a great and Christian Nation."
