It is with feelings of the deepest sorrow that we have to record a most melancholy occurrence. The boiler of the Steam Saw Mill at Waynesboro', the property of Mr. Jesse Pipkin, exploded yesterday morning about 7 1-2 o'clock, killing three white men and two negroes. Mr. Pipkin, the proprietor, was killed, and a Mr. Thos. Gardner and Wm. Jones. The two negroes belonged to Mr. Pipkin. Two other negroes were badly wounded, one a free boy, and the other the property of Mrs. Churchill of Waynesboro.' Defects of the boiler is attibuted as the cause of the explosion. Mr. Pipkin leaves a widow and three children to mourn their irreparable loss. Mr. Jones and Mr. Gardner have each left a family in almost destitute circumstances.
