First Class is composed of Jane Greene, James Harper, Frances Whitfield and William Washington,who were examined on Spelling. In this class Frances Whitfield is the best scholar, and James Parker next, the others are approved. Second class, consisting of Bright Best, Calvin Hynes, Robbin Davis and Burlett Whifield, was examined on Spelling. In this class Calvin Hynes is the best scholar, and Bright Best the next-the others are approved. Third class is composed of Rigdon Best, Theophiles Bryant, James M'Kinne, John Slocumb, Lewis Whitfield, Harriett Slocumb, Peggy Hynes and Sally Wooten, who were examined on spelling and reading. In this class Lewis Whitfield is the best scholar, Theophiles Bryant and John Slocumb are the next-the others are approved. Fourth class consists of Richard Akman, Nelson Edwards, Lewis Hynes, Robert Best, Allen Wooten, Jennette Edwards, Nancy Best, and Julia Whitfield which was examined on spelling, reading and writing. In this class Allen Wooten is superior, the next best are Julia Whitfield and Nelson Edwards-the others are approved. Fifth class is composed of Harriett Whitfield and Narcissa D.Whitfield, who were examined on English Grammer from the verb "to have", to Syntax on reading and writing, and on M'Dowell's question on the Bible, as far as the 4th chapter of Exodus-Narcissa Whitfield was also examined on Arithmetic to---? Narcissa Whitfield is the best Scholar, the other approved. Sixth class consisting of Kinchen Best, Solomon Burn, Dempsey Edwards, Charles Hopton, Bryant Herring, John Herring, Richard Keatly, Richard Johnson, Martin Jounson, Joe Hynes, James Parker and Bryant Lawhon, was examined on reading, writing and English Grammer for------? and on Dilworths Arithmetic to ----Troy Wright. In this class Richard Johnson was best scholar, Solomon Burn and Richard Keatly are the best and equal-the others are approved. Seventh class consists of James Everett, John Fellows, John Keatly, Bryant Parker, Houston Roberts, Richard Roberts and Joshua Taylor which was examined on reading and writing, on English Grammer as far as the 'artice'? and on Dilworth's Arithmetic to interest. The whole of this class passed an excellent examination, but John Fellows, James Everette and Houston Roberts are superior --? distinguished in order of their names. Eighth class is composed of Joseph Everett, and Richard M'Kinnie who were examined on reading and writing and on arithmetic as far as addition of --- fractions and on the bible to the 4th chapter of Exodus. In this class Joseph Everett is the best scholar. The other is approved. ON THE LANGUAGES First class was consisting of Josiah Blackman, Barnabas M'Kinnie, Johm Sasser and James H. Sasser, was examined on5 Col? of Corderius, on La in Grammer, on the --Dowell's questions on the ---as far the 4th chapter of Exodus and reading and writing. In this class James H. Sasser has the first standing and Barnabas M'Kinnie the next--the others are approved. Second class is composed of Thomas A. Greene, Solomon Pope and Joseph Ward, which were examined on Latin grammer, on --Co., of Corderous on 7 of Esop's Fables, on English Grammer to Syntax, on the Bible to the 4th Chapter of Exodus, and on reading and writing-in this class Joseph Ward is considered best-the othes are approved and equal, James Rhodes, a member of this class with permission was absent from the examination. Third class consists of Joseph Collier, William M'Kinnie, Boaz Whitfield, Ganus Whitfield and William Wright, which was examined on 6? lines of the 1st book of Ovlo's? Metamorp--, on Mairs Introduction to the 15--Rute?, on English Grammer from the Adjective to Syutax, on the Bible to the 4th chapter of Exodus, and on reading and writing-Joseph Collier, William Wright and William M'Kinnie are the best scholars and considered equal-the others are approved, and equal. Fourth class consisting of Thomas J. Latham and George W. Whitfield was examined on the sd. 4th and 5th Etheds or Virgil, on Mair's Introduction to the SOh rule, Greek Grammer from the Verb "Tupto" to the general view of the Moods and Tenses--on the first chapter of St. Johns Gospel and on McDowels questions on the bible as far as the 4th chapter of Exodus--But Thomas Latham did not appear on Virgil and Mair's Introduction--This class passed an excellent examination and is entitled to much distinction. Among those who were selected to deliver orations George W. Whitfield, Gains Whitfield, William Wright, William M'Kinnie, Thomas Greene and James H. Sasser were considered best. Nolins Volens and Fortunes Frolic were played on Tuesday, 23rd. The trustees on this occasion feel truly happy in informing the public, that the improvement manifested by the various classes, in the different branches which they have studied, has been such as to afford entire satisfaction to all- The ensuing session will continue on Monday the 19th, October next under the su-pendency of James A.
