Goldsboro Headlight ,July 31, 1902
 The death of Mr. Jesse J. Baker occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. 
Thad C. Gurley, in Fork Township, Saturday night at 9 o'clock, aged 69 years. 
He had been in declining health for over a year and was taken very ill the 
Sunday previous his demise. The interment took place at the home place in 
Pikeville township about 6 miles from here, Sunday at 4 p. m., Rev. J. H. 
Worley of the Free Will Baptist Church, officiating.
