Olive, Wayne County, reports to the Goldsboro Argus the facts in the case of the distressing death, by hydrophobia, of a colored man, John Best, of that place last Saturday morning. His dog became engaged in a fight under his residence during the severe cold weather last January. Best went under the house to part them, when he was bitten. The dog that bit him acted strangley the next day, going from place to place, bitting dogs as he came to them. Best's wounds, which were on his hands, soon healed and he never felt any uneasiness until a few days ago. Wednesday, 22d, he was ditching and became frightened at the water and came home very weak and sick. He was attended by two physicians, who pronounced the case as above stated. He had to be secured to the bed with ropes Friday night and remained in that condition until death came to his relief.
