John William Chestnutt, 44 yrs old, died of a snake bite in Sampson County. 
Born Jan 09 1804, to Seth Artemus Chestnutt, and Thankful Erma Childress, in 
Piney Grove Area, Sampson County, NC, he married Anna Patience Gum, Jan 10 1828 
in Sampson County. They had six children. John William Chestnutt was the father 
of Bedford Brown Chestnutt, and the great grand father of Roland Bedford 
Chestnutt, of Grantham, NC.
He is laid to rest in the Old County Cemetery near Dobbersville, NC
