DAVIS, Ariminta – (d. 1852)

The following obituary appeared in the October 6, 1852 issue of the Raleigh 
Register.  Ariminta was the daughter of Colonel A.F. MOSES and the wife of Dr. 
A.C. DAIVS.

At Strawberry Hill, Wayne County, on Sunday the 19th inst., after a lingering 
illness of five months, Mrs. Ariminta M. Davis, consort of Dr. A.C. Davis and 
daughter of Col. A.F. Moses, in the 27th year of her age.
Death and his cold and iron grasp has again visited us, and taken from our midst 
one whose inestimable virtues and great excellnce, won for her a chrished regard 
and admiration by all who knew her. He could not have taken from us one whose 
death will be more deeply lamented by her husband and parent - ever kind, 
sincere, generous and affectionate, in he attachments and friendship, she made a 
kind and affectionate wife, and a devoted mother. Her afflictions were borne 
with that degree of meekness, patience, resignation, and fortitute, which gave 
stong evidence that she was prepared for death. She has been for severl years a 
member of the Methodist Church, and her death afforded triumphant testimony, 
that she was called from earth to a fairer and brighter world beyond this vale 
of tears. Her last words were: "There is hope."
