John Everett, Esq., an esteemed citizen of Goldsboro died on October 1st, aged 77 
years.

Observations - Speaking of the death of Mr. Everett of Goldsboro, father of Dr. 
D. E. Everett of this city, the Messenger (Goldsboro) says: Another old landmark 
is gone and a good man has passed away. It is with regret that we announce the 
death of John Everett, Esq., which took place at his residence in this town 
Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock. He died surrounded by his devoted wife and all 
those dear to him by the ties of kindred and affection being seventy seven years 
of age. Mr. Everett was one of our oldest and most respected citizens and leaves 
behind him the record of "a useful life well spent."
