Wayne County, NC - Obituary of Alexander A. Evans ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goldsboro's Carolina Messenger - July 11, 1872 In Goldsboro, of Typhoid Fever, on the 4th inst. after an illness of a few days, Alexander A. Evans, son of the late Dr. A.C. Evans, in the 19th year of his age. He was a young man of irreproachable character, of noble and manly impluses - scrupulously conscientious, prompt and faithful in the discharge of every duty - thereby securing the respect and esteem of the entire community. Four times in a few years, has his widowed and afflicted mother's heart been smitten by the hand of death. First, a lovely daughter, then her husband, a grown son, and now the only son, the darling "Benjamin" of her heart, upon whom she leanded for succor and support in her declining years. All her earthly hope are now blasted and withered. May the God of grace and comfort sustain her in this mighty affliction. From his lips of spotless purity, and from expressions uttered by him during his illness, the bereaved has hope that their loss is his gain. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
