FUNERAL HELD
 Funeral services for Mrs. E. T. Gurley, 63, who died at her home in Buck 
Swamp township Friday afternoon following a stroke of paralysis which in turn 
followed an illness of about 20 months, were held from the Whitley church 
Saturday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Johnnie Wellons, 
Holiness minister. Interment was made in the John Creech cemetery near 
Smithfield in Johnston county.
 Surviving besides her husband are the following children:
 Tom and Lloyd Gurley of Pine Level, and Percy, Edgar, Clifton, Cooper, Lehman 
and Mrs. Myrtie Edgerton, all of the home community.

Note: This is the obituary of Annie Ranza Ophelia Daughtry Gurley. She was the 
wife of Ed Thomas Gurley and the daughter of Solomon and Esther Capps 
Daughtry.
