Wayne County, NC - Obituary of Cicero Gurley, 1940 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goldsboro News Argus March 10, 1940 Cicero Gurley Dies At Home In Fork Cicero Gurley, 78, well-known Wayne County farmer, died Saturday afternoon at his home in Fork Township following a three-week illness of heart trouble. Funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon at Ebenezer Methodist Church by the Rev. Elijah Pierce of Princeton, Free Will Baptist minister. Interment was in the W. O. W. Cemetery at Princeton. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Lanie Dail; four sons, Leslie Gurley of Elm City, A. J. Gurley of Fork township and Al Gurley, assistant fire chief of Goldsboro, and Bob Gurley of Kenansville; five daughters, Mrs. W. J. Snypes of Princeton, Mrs. Sudie Munroe of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Raymond Howell of Durham, Mrs. West Brodgen and Mrs. George Roberts of Goldsboro; 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and one brother, Lewis Gurley of Pikeville. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
