George Bowden Martin, 77 of Grantham NC, died today November 07 2001. Born to 
Issac George and Minniw Williford Martin of Bentonville, NC on January 26, 
1924, he grew up on the family farm, until he joined the US Army and came home 
a World War II Army Veteran. He spent most of his life working in construction 
and farming. George spent his leisure time with nature and was an excellent 
hunter,trapper and fisherman. He was preceeded in death by his parents, and 
sisters, Mary M. Johnson, Amy M. Pearce, Mytle Martin, Fannie M. Parker, Sudie 
Martin, Rena M. Chestnutt, Beulah M. Holt, Inez M. Hayes, Norene M. Blackmon. 
He leavs behind his wife, Edna H. Martin, and 6 children. He leaves behind many 
grandchildren ,neices and nephews, who loved Uncle George, and will miss him 
dearly. He is buried in Wayne County Memorial Cemetery.
