Wayne County, NC - Obituaries Former N & O Cartoonist Dies at 93 January 20, 1970 Santa Barbara, Calif. (UPI) Funeral services for Norman Ethre Jennette, cartoonist and illustrator for Eastern newspapers for many years, will be held Tuesday at Santa Barbara Cemetery. Jennett, who had been in failing health for more than a year, died Saturday at his daughter's home in Santa Maria, Calif. He was 93. A native of Goldsboro, NC, Jennett started as a cartoonist for The News and Observer and other North Carolina newspapers.
