PARKER Prominent Lawyer and Former Member of N.C. Senate Dies at Goldsboro GOLDSBORO, Feb. 21 – H.B. Parker, 71, dean of the Goldsboro bar, former State senator and prominent religious leader, died at 2:10 o’clock this morning in the Goldsboro hospital after an illness of several weeks of heart disease. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Active pallbearers will be nephews of the deceased. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Wayne County Bar association, deacons of the First Baptist Church and others. Mr. Parker was a native of Como in Hertford County. He attended the University of North Carolina. He located in North Wilkesboro and was its first mayor. He moved to Goldsboro in 1894, and practiced law here until forces by ill health to retire. He was a member of the North Carolina State bar. He served in the State Senate and as assistant inspector general of the North Carolina State guard under Governor Kitchen with the rank of major.
