Pipkin, 58, of Buck Swamp Dies of Injuries Funeral for George F. Pipkin, 58, Buck Swamp township lumberman who died Tuesday night of injuries received when a tree fell on him, will be held from Ebenezer Methodist church at 11 o'clock Thursday morning. Rev. Mr. Farrar of Bailey will be in charge of the service. Burial will be made in the family plot. Mr. Pipkin, well known in the northwest section of Wayne, was engaged in logging operations not far from his home last Thursday. In some manner unexplained he was struck by a falling tree. It took several men nearly three hours to extricate his body from beneath the large tree. He was brought to the Goldsboro Hospital in an ambulance, and an examination showed that his body had been badly crushed. His condition had been serious from the time he was brought to the hospital. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Viola Gurley Pipkin and the following brothers and sisters: Misses Mary and Smithie Pipkin of Buck Swamp, Mrs. A. J. Price of Selma, Mrs. R. R. Atkinson of Charlotte and David Pipkin of Buck Swamp. The following have been named to serve as pallbearers; Luby Edwards, E. M. Davis, Bill Thompson, Mr. Caldwell, Redmond Johnson, Nathan Crawford, Haschal Edgerton and Luther Hales.
