The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church. The Rev. Johnny Sasser will conduct the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Potts was born in Wayne County, was the daughter of the late Ernest James and Hettie Myrtle Rose Pipkin, and was the wife of the late Edward Potts. She was preceded in death by an infant son, and by a sister, Rose P. Ginn. A graduate of Smith Chapel High School, Louisburg College and East Carolina Teachers College, she was a retired school teacher with the Wayne County Public Schools and Christian Schools. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church where, over the years, she served as organist, pianist, Sunday school teacher and deaconess. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Leslie E. and Helen Potts of Goldsboro, Thomas U. Potts of Dallas, Texas, and E. Guy Potts of Raleigh; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah P. and Donald Lynch of Goldsboro and Clara P. and Harold Newcomb of Dudley; one brother, John Moses Pipkin of Greensboro; two sisters, Margaret P. Thigpen of Dudley and Edna P. Price of Goldsboro; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
