Wayne County, NC - Obituary of George Pinkney Rose, 1889 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Source: Goldsboro Headlight. Sept. 4, 1889. DT: Sept. 1, 1889 "The unwelcome news reaches us of the death of Mr. G. P. Rose, and aged and respected citizen of Grantham’s township. He departed this life last Sunday at 2 p.m., and was buried the following evening at 3 o’clock. He leaves a wife, several children and a host of friends to mourn his loss." Source: Goldsboro Headlight, Apr 2, 1890 "The Masonic funeral of the late Geo. P. Rose was held at his late residence in Grantham’s township on Sunday and was attended by at least 2,000 people. There were a goodly number of Masons present representing the following lodges: Mill Creek No. 125, of which deceased was a member, Falling Creek No. 325, Wayne No. 112, Palmyra, No. 147, and Selma No. 320. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. J. Harper of Smithfield and the Masonic burial service at the grave was read by Mr. W. W.
