Goldsboro Messenger, Thursday Oct 25, 1877

At his residence in Jackson County, Arkansas, on 11 Oct 1877 of pheumonia,
Mr. Calvin R. Tolar died in the 49th year of his age. Mr. Tolar was reared
in Wayne County, NC. He went to Arkansas several years ago and from his
straightforward and decided course, held a prominent position as one of our
best citizens. He leaves a wife and one brother to mourn his loss.
