Wiggs Dies Near Princeton Smithfield-John W. Wiggs, 81, prominent farmer and land owner of Johnston County, died at his home on Princeton, Rt. 2, Thursday morning at 3:45 following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Bizzell Grove Holiness Church Friday afternoon by the Rev. T. M. Bizzell, pastor. Interment was in the Princeton cemetery. Mr. Wiggs had lived in this county all his life. He first married Miss Lanie Daughtry, to which union were born three children, all of whom survive. About 55 years ago, he married Jane Ellen Little and to this union were born fifteen children, eleven of whom survive. He leaves his last wife, Mrs. Jane Ellen Wiggs and the following children: George N. , Oscar, and Jasper Wiggs of Pine Level; Johnnie P. Wiggs of Kenly, W.E. Wiggs of Selma, Mrs. Wesley Batten and Mrs. Henry Parrish of Selma, Rt. 2, Mrs. Jim Matthews of Magnolia, Mrs. Charlie Rhodes and Mrs. Gurney Evans of Goldsboro, Mrs. Grover Creech, Mrs. G. R. Marshall and Mrs. Emmitt Cooke of Durham and Mrs. Earl Brown of Princeton. Fifty grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren survive.
