King of the state of North Carolina & county of Wayne of the first part and Ingram Rhodes & Lancaster J. Moore of the county & state aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part has purchased one certain tract or parcel of land from Mary Everitt of the same county & state aforesaid situated & lying & being in the county of Wayne aforesaid & bounded as follows viz: beginning at a pine Coxes corner & runs N 88 Et 225 poles to a stake Wm. R. Parkers corner then No 1/2 East 30 poles to a stake in said Parkers line then No 72 1/2 Wt 122 poles to a blackgum & dead oak then No 1/2 Wt 126 poles to a stake by Theophilus Holmes tan trough then No 87 Wt 104 poles to a dead persimmon tree then So 55 poles to a small pine down in horse pocosin then So 144 poles to the beginning containing one hundred and eighty four acres & one half for which land the said party of the first part has given to the said Mary Everitt three certain notes bearing date the 30th day of November 1854 the first of said notes falls due on the 30th Nov 1855 and the second on the 30th Nov 1856 & the third on the 30th of Nov 1857 & all of said notes draws interest from the 30th of November 1854 and the said Ingram Rhodes & Lancaster J. Moore of the second part is security to the above named notes this grant is intended as security for the payment of eight hundred & thirty dollars & seventy five cents which payment is duly made will render this conveyance void & if default shall be made in the payment of the principal or interest above mentioned then the said party of the second part & their assigns are hereby authorized to sell the premises above granted or so much thereof as will be necessary to satisfy the amount then due with the cost & expenses allowed by law. Kennedy Wayne County Court May 22, 1855 Then was the above deed of mortgage from Barnabas S. King to Ingram Rhodes & Lancaster J. Moore duly proved before me by the oath of Curtis P.
