Mortgage Deed

State of North Carolina
County of Wayne
	This indenture made the 18th September 1893 between C.J. Hudson of 
the first part and F.A. Daniels and W.R. Allen of the second part of the 
county of Wayne and State of North Carolina Witnessed that said party of the 
first part in consideration of one dollar to herein paid, the receipt which 
is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold by these presents do convey 
unto said party of the second part and his heirs a certain tract of land 
lying in Grantham township Wayne county in said state and bounded as 
follows: Beginning the tract of land described in a deed from G.S. Peterson 
and wife t E.B. Jordan which is registered in Wayne County in Book Number 33 
page 221 and being the tract of land now owned jointly by the said Hudson 
and F.A. Daniels containing two hundred and eighteen and ½ acres more or 
less.  To Have and to Hold the aforesaid tract of land to said party of the 
second part and his heirs and assigns forever.  The condition of the deed is 
that whereas the said party of the first part justly indebted to the said 
party of the second part in the sum of one hundred and seventy dollars by 2 
notes bearing interest at 8% from date and due respectively December 1, 1893 
one of said notes for $85.00 being due to W.R. Allen and one for same amount 
to F.A. Daniels dated herewith and is honestly desirous of securing the 
payment of the same thereon, then this deed shall be void and it is further 
understood and agreed that in case the said party of the first part shall 
fail to pay either one of the said notes and interest when due then all of 
the said notes to be due and payable at once and the parties of the second 
part or their assigns are authorized and empowered to advertise said land at 
the Court House door and tree other public places in Wayne county for thirty 
days and after such advertisement sell the same for cash at the Court House 
door in Goldsboro and convey the same by deed to the purchaser and out of 
the proceeds of such sale pay the said debt and interest and all necessary 
expense of making and executing this trust and the balance remaining shall 
pay over to said C.J. Hudson or his legal representatives.  
In Witness whereof the said party of the first part has here unto se his 
hand and seal.
