Hudson Source: www.familysearch.org Wayne Deed Records 1890-1893 Image 705 of 831 Volume 65 Page 399 State of North Carolina Wayne County This deed made this 9th day of January 1898 by Giles T. Loftin and wife Elizabeth of Wayne County State of NC to C.J. Hudson of Wayne State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that said G.T. loftin and wife in consideration of onethousand dollars to them paid by C.J. Hudson the receipt of which is hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said C.J. Hudson his heirs, executors, adminstrators and assigns a tract or parcel of land in Wayne county State of North Carolina adjoin the lands of council Warrick, D.J. Hudson, James McCullen and others bounded as follows viz: Beginning at a sweet gum in a small branch on the road leading from Grantham store to Fayetteville, Council Warrick's corner and runs with said road S6&1/2E 16 poles to a stake then S27W 34 poles to a stake then S42W 62 poles to a stake then S81E 127 poles to stake on the run of McCullen branch then up said branch as it meanders to two hollys then N7W 16 poles to a dead pine stump then N21E 62 poles to a pine stump then N80E 3 poles to a stump then N19E 19&3/4 poles to a stake then N82W 108 poles to small pine on the run of a small branch then down said branch as it meanders to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said C.J. Hudson his heirs and assigns to their only se and behoof. And the said G.T. Loftin and wife E.J. covenant that they are seized of premises in fee and have right to convey the same fee simple that the same are free from all encumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all person whatsoever. In testimony whereof, the said G.T. Loftin and wife E.J. have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year above written. Giles T. Loftin (seal) Elizabeth J. Loftin (seal) North Carolina County of Wayne I, G.W. Bridges, do hereby certify that Giles T. Loftin and Elizabeth J. Loftin his wife personally appeared befoe me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed and the said Elizabeth J. Loftin beginning by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto let it be registered.
