J. A. & Sarah Fields to Smithy M. Lewis in consideration of one dollar a tract 
of land adjoining the land of Wm Carraway and others bounded as follows: 
Beginning at a stake on the run of Carraway Creek in the mill pond Hepsey 
Futrel’s corner and runs with her line S 57 N 166 poles to a stake in the back 
line her other corner, then with the back line S 15 E 96 4/5 poles to a pine 
stump near the head of a short branch then down the run of short branch as it 
meanders to a pine stump on the north side of short branch near Wm Carraway’s 
spring the old stooping pine corner, then N 54 E 46 poles to the run of Carraway 
Creek, then with the same to the beginning containing 72 ¾ acres more or less.

[Note: this deed is significant as it proves Hepsy and Sarah were daughters of 
John McKinne who died in 1839. In this deed Sarah is giving her inherited 
portion of her father’s lands to her daughter Smithy who had married Major 
Lewis, son of Urban & Susan Casey Lewis.]
