D. and Emeline D. Grant of Putnam County of Windham and state of Connecticut of the first part and Hiram L. Grant of Goldsboro in Wayne County NC of the second part, in consideration of $5000, exclusive with the exceptions hereinafter excepted, to wit: A tract of land beginning at the mouth Little River and running up said river to where the North Carolina Railroad crosses it; Then easterly with said railroad to a point where the county road crosses it; Then with said County road south to where the boundaries of the old town of Goldsboro Waynesboro were; Then easterly with the plan of said old town to the southeast corner thereof; Then with the boundaries of said old town of Waynesboro to a point which is on the southside of what was called Water Street in said old town; Then up the County road to a point called Middle Street in said Town; Then south to Neuse River; Then with said river as it meanders along to the beginning containing 155 acres; To have and to hold to him the said Hiram L. Grant all the land enclosed in the boundaries above set forth; EXCEPT the following: A lot of land which the late Richard Washington was seized and possessed at the time of his death including lots No.s 48, 53, 56, 57, 58, 65, 77, 78, 80, 82, 84, 85, 87, 88, 98, according to the plan of said old town; A lot of land now occupied by H. Weil & Bros. as a brickyard containing 15 acres; with improvements thereon, said lot of land being in the northwestern corner of said farm and fronting north along the line of the North Carolina Railroad. Also one tract of land possessed by W. T. Faircloth and John R. Smith beginning at a gum on the bank of Neuse River at the mouth of a slough to a stake at H. Weil & Bros line to Little River, down said river to Neuse River then down said Neuse River to the beginning containing 15 acres; Also, a carriage way along said railroad from line of H. Weil Bros. to point on said road to where the county road crosses it. Witnesses: M. G.
