He died by drowning in the Neuse River. FORK TOWNSHIP FARMER DROWNS IN NEUSE Mallie Warrick, 38-year-old farmer of Fork township, was drowned in the Neuse River near the State Hospital, two miles west of Goldsboro, abort 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body was not recovered until Sunday midnight by Luby Price and Jim Warrick, reported deputy Roy Percise who lead a searching party of the neighborhood and Goldsboro men Sunday afternoon. A drag net located the body only five feet from where Warrick went down deputy Percise said. According to reports Warrick and his children were out walking Sunday afternoon. The children were wading when Warrick stepped off in a deep place and went under. Surviving are his wife, the former Lela Langston, four sons, Merle Louis, Paul Avery, Walter Cecil, Bert Haywood; five daughters, Evelyn, Helen, Betty, Margaret and Ludie all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Sallie J. Warrick, St. Remy, NY; three brothers, Emmett, Leroy, Coleman, all of near Goldsboro; three sisters, Mrs. C.C. Jenson, Selkirk,NY, Mrs. H. M. Sandford, Goldsboro and Mrs. Bert Pritchard of St.Remy, NY. Funeral services have not been made pending arrival of relatives from New York.
