Wayne County, NC - Will of Jesse Ammons, 1826 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Jesse Ammons Wayne County 1826 In the name of God Amen. I Jesse Ammons of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being of sound and of perfect mind blessed be God do this 26th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following viz that is to say--- First I lend to my beloved wife Scithy Ammons one Negro woman named Amy. I also lend my beloved wife Scithy Ammons one Negro boy named Allen during her lifetime or widowhood. I also lend to my beloved wife all the lands that I am at this time possessed of during life or widowhood. I also lend to my beloved wife one feather bed and furniture I also lend my beloved wife all my household and kitchen furniture except four beds which I shall hereafter mention during her life or widowhood Item, I give to my daughter Christian and Daniel Pate her husband our Negro woman named Jinny to them and their heirs forever the first child which the said negro woman Jinny brings forth after the date of this will as it is expected in a short time my will and desire is my Daughter Elizabeth should have it belonging to her and her heirs forever I also give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one negro girl named Beck one cow and calf one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Ammons one negro boy named Warren to him and his heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my son David Ammons one negro boy named Abram to him and his heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my son Josiah Ammons one negro boy named Irvise also one negro boy named Charles & one colt one bed & furniture one cow and calf one sow and pigs to him and his heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Winneford Ammons one negro boy named Doctor one bed and furniture one cow and calf to her and her heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my son John Ammons one negro boy named Allen after the death of my beloved wife for widowhood to him and his heirs forever Item, I give to my two grandchildren Anna Jernigan and William Henry Jernigan one negro woman named Amy after the death or widowhood of my beloved wife to be equally divided between the two to them and their heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary and Jesse Pate her husband one dollar to them and their heirs forever Item, I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Ammons all the land that I am at this time possessed of after the death or widowhood of my beloved wife Also One negro boy named Issac one Soul Horse one bed and furniture one cow and calf also all the house holds and kitchen furniture which I lent to my beloved wife I give to my son Jesse Ammons after the death or widowhood of my beloved wife Scithy Ammons to him and his heirs forever Also I desire that a sufficiency of my stock which I have not given away be sold to pay all my just debts.
