Wayne County, NC - Will of John Anderson, 1792

In the name of God Amen the 10th day of October in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and ninty two. I John Anderson of the State
of North Carolina and County of Wayne, being weak of Body, But of sound
mind and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and
knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain,
this instrument to contain my Last Will and Testament, in manner following,
that is to say first of all I give and recomend my Soul into the hands of
allmighty God that gave it, me and my body to the Earth to be buried in a
Christian like and sane manner, at the description of my Executors here
after named and as touching such worldy estate as it hath pleased God to
bless me with in this life. I give cause and dispose of in manner following
to wit. I lend to my beloved wife, my land and plantation of one hundred
and sixty five acres, where on I now live during her natural life, and after
my wifes death, then I give my land and plantation that I lent her to my
son Jesse Anderson and what other things I gave him at his marriage to him
and his heirs forever.

Item 2, I give to my son Thomas Anderson one shilling sterling money besides
what I have heretofore given him at his marriage to him and his heirs forever

Item 3, I give to my son Miles Anderson one shilling sterling money, besides
what I have heretofore given him at his marriage, to him and his heirs forever

Item 4, I give to my daughter, Nanny Smith one cow and calf besides what I
have heretofore given her at her marriage to her and her heirs forever

Item 5, I give to my daughter Betty Smith, one feather bed and furniture, and
cow and calf to her and her heirs forever. Likewise all the rest of my estate
that I have not heretofore mentioned, give the same to my said wife to her
and her own disposal forever

Lastly I constitute nominate and appoint my friend, Barnaby McKinney and my
beloved wife, executor and executrise of this my Last Will and Testament,
qualifying and confirming, this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, 
disannulling, revolking and making all other wills and testaments by me made 
in writing where the said John Anderson have heretofore set my hand and 
affixe my seal this day and year first written
