Carolina Wayne County In the name of almighty God I DREWRY BARNES in an Consideration of mind the mortality of my body Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say first of all I gave my Soul into the Hand of all mighty God that gave it and my body to be buried in a decent manner of my dear beloved wife and as touching my worldly estate wherein God hath blest me with in this life I gave and devise and dispose of in manner and form as follows I lend to my beloved wife POLLY BARNES all my land on the North side of the Great Swamp. Her lifetime or widowhood. I lend her TOM to her lifetime or widowhood and after her life or Widow Hood I leave him TOM to be sot (sic) free I give to my wife above mentioned nine Negros named ROSE, LUCE, HENRY, NANCY, JURDEN, EVRET, EXUM, OFFE and LISHA and their increase and all the rest of my property What Ever as is not willed away in legacies and all my Money and Notes as don't take to pay my debts and legacies I give to my brother WILLIAM BARNES ten dollars I give to my brother SAMUEL BARNES twenty five shillings I gave to my sister ELIZABETH NEWSOM twenty five shillings I give to my sister MARY JORDIN twenty five shillings I give to my brother JOHN BARNES ten dollars I give to my sister CHRISTAIN NEWSOM twenty five shillings I give to _______ DICKINSON twenty five shillings I give to SILLAR BARNES daughter of MARY JORDAN fifty dollars I now also for the good behaviour of my Negro man named JACK I do set him free and I give him all my land on the south and north side of the Great Swamp one horse named Colector all his hogs where he feeds at the Ranow Place one ax one hoe one plow hoe and cutter one rifle shot bags and moles One bofat (sic) after my wife life time or widowhood one cow and calf four head of sheep all to be ewes all my Sidder Cast after my wife life time or widowhood one Set of Black Smiths Tools after my wife life time or widowhood one feather bed and furniture I give him Two Hundred weight of Meat and Six barrels Corn This the 10th Day of January 1816 DREWRY BARNES I leave JACOB HOOKS to be my executor for him to _______ this Negro JACK in use with Justice and for you to be paid out of my estate what you think is anuf (sic) to satisfy you for your trouble DREWRY BARNES This Will was found in DREWRY BARNES papers after his death and his handwriting was verified by JACOB BARNES and SOLOMAN BRADBERRY after being sworn.
