Wright Bass lived in the Black Creek - Great Swamp area of what is now Wilson Co) T H E W I L L O F W R I G H T B A S S I Wright Bass of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament in the manner and form following, that is to say First I leave to my beloved wife Annis Bass all of my land where on I now live together with my tract of land on the south side of the Great Swamp to have and to hold during her natural lifetime or widowhood also my negro man Sam I leave to my wife during her natural lifetime 2nd I give to my son Thomas Bass my gray horse, one feather bedstead and furniture and one shot gun to have and to hold, him and his heirs forever also one cow and calf 3re I give to Vicey Bass, my daughter, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture to have and to hold, her and her heirs forever 4th I give to my daughter, Penelope Bass, one cow and calf, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture to have and to hold, her and her heirs forever 5th I give to my daughter, Nancy Bass, one cow and calf, one feather bed, bedstead and furniture to have and to hold, her and her heirs forever The balance of my property that I have not given away I leave unto my beloved wife to have and to hold during her natural lifetime or widowhood and after her marriage or decease as the case may be I give to my son Thomas Bass all that tract of land whereon I now live to have and to hold him and his heirs forever and also one Beaufet I give to Thomas Bass and the land on the other or south side of the swamp I give unto my sons Elisha Bass and Arthur Bass to be equally divided between them two, the balance of my property that may be remaining at the decease of my wife I leave to be sold and divided as hereinafter named Vis. To Eliza Atkinson to have forty dollars in money or notes also Vicey Bass Penelope Bass and Nancy Bass to have forty dollars in cash or notes.
