Wayne County, NC - Will of Nancy Best, 1871

        I NANCY BEST being of sound mind and memory do make and publish 
  this my Last Willl and Testament 

Article 1  I give to my daughter NANCY JANE HOWELL wife of JAMES A 
           HOWELL my two beds and bedsteads and all my bedclothes
Article 2  I give to my said daughter NANCY JANE HOWELL all my wearing 
           clothes
Article 3  I give to my said daughter NANCY JANE HOWELL the contents of 
           my chest consisting of sundry articles exclusive of the chest
Article 4  I give to my son RICHARD W BEST my large chest that has 
           drawers in it and also my clock and also my spinning wheel 
           and pair of cords.
Article 5  I give to LOUVENIA BARDIN wife of JAMES W BARDIN my large 
           looking glass and also my sley and harness
Article 6  I give to my son THEOPHILUS W BEST my large red chest and also 
           one small table and also one pot and one oven and some crockery 
           which I have loaned to him and if he should die without an heir 
           I give the above articles to my son BENJAMIN BEST
Article 7  I give to my son BENJAMIN BEST two notes I hold against and 
           amounting to about eighty five dollar
Article 8  I give to my son HINTON J BEST one note which I hold against 
           him given for sixty dollars
Article 9  I give to my son RICHARD W BEST one note which I hold 
           against him given for fifty dollars
Article 10 I give to my son WAITMAN T BEST one note which I hold 
           against him for twenty dollars and also my lom and one spinning 
           wheel and also my new bedstead and my andirons and two big 
           kitchen tables and my pot kettle and griddle and my ________ 
           and my two flat irons
Article 11 I give to my son WAITMAN T BEST all the balance of my estate 
           that has not been heretofore conveyed in this will.
Article 12 It is my will that if my son WAITMAN T BEST should die 
           before his daughter, NANCY JANE BEST,  that she shall have all 
           the property conveyed to him in this will.
Article 13 I do make and appoint my son WAITMAN T BEST my lawful 
           executor to execute and carry out this my last will and testament
           Given under my hand and seal this the 26 th day of May in the 
           year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six
