Wayne County, NC - Will of Mary Jane Best, 1911

In the name of God amen
     I MARY JANE BEST of the County of Wayne and State of North 
Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty 
of my healthy existence do make and declare this my last will and 
testament in manner and form following, that is to say.
That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent 
burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all 
funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to 
whomsoever owing out of the money that may first come into his hands as 
a part or parcel of my estate.
I give to my beloved husband W. T. BEST the sum of twenty dollars one 
bedstead and mattress and two quilts.
I give to my niece NANCY VINSON eighty five dollars, one chest, one 
blanket, one comfort and one feather bed.
I give to the heirs of my brother BENJAMIN NEWSOM the sum of one 
hundred dollars and to my niece PENNY NEWSOM one bed quilt and one 
trunk.
I give to the heirs of JOAB NEWSOM the sum of ninety dollars and to 
BETTIE his daughter one bed quilt.
I give to the heirs of my niece ANTOYNETT REAVES the sum eighty five 
dollars and to her boys each, one bed quilt and one counterpane.
I give to my nephews JOE JOHNSON the sum of fifteen dollars and to the 
heirs of WILLIAM JOHNSON the sum of fifteen dollars.
I give to LILLIE VINSON one Bureau, one wash stand and center table, 
one trunk and one bed quilt.
The residue of my estate to be equally divided between the above heirs. 
And lastly I do constitute and appoint ELIJAH VINSON SR. my executor to 
all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament 
according to the true intent and meaning of the same.
In witness whereof I the said MARY JANE BEST hereunto set my hand and 
seal 
this Nov. 14, 1909.
