Wayne County, NC - Will of Amos Boyte, 1826 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God Amen I AMOS BOYTE of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina being sick and weak of Body But of sound mind and memory do this 2nd day of April 1826 make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following FIRST I lend to my wife ELIZABETH BOYTE During her lifetime or widow- hood one feather bed and furniture one sow and six pigs one cow cavld (sic) the large tan heiffer (sic) and her calf five barrels corn and hundred weight of ____ ____ the brake and the cotton patch at the house the field adjoining at the rode (sic) the apple orchart (sic) and the field on the left hand of the rode (sic) going to the mill near the long Branch and wheel and cerd (sic) and one pot to be her choice and all the bacon that I have and wash tub and Worter (sic) pale and bred (sic) tray and the dwelling house I give to my sun (son) DEMPSEY BOYTE a piece of land ajoining (sic) the land of URIAH LANGSTON begining (sic) at my corner up the Branch and run down the Branch until an East (sentence that I cannot read) then with URIAH LANGSTON line round to the begining (sic) The said DEMPSEY to pay MURAH LANGSTON the ari (sic) of CHARITY JONES ten dollars out of the land To STEPHEN BOYTE my sun (sic) I give a tract or peac (sic) of land beginning (sic) where DEMPSEY hits the back line and with that line to a white oak on the rode (sic) nere (sic) the long Branch then with the road to the _____ _____ that goes in to the apple orchart (sic) then to a walnut tree in the field near the plum orchart (sic) and strat (sic) on to the line in the Branch the said STEPHEN to give out ____ _____ the land ten dollars to the airs (sic) of my sun (sic) MOSES BOYTE all the rest of my land to be equally divided between my suns(sic) MICAJAH and AMOS BOYTE by their paying ten dollars Each to the airs (sic) of MOSES BOYTE I give to my sun (sic) JOHN BOYTE my negro man Cader and one horse cauld (sic) Caders and all the ______ that is cauld (sic) Caders The rest of my property is not Wild (sic) away I wish to be sould (sic) and my just debts paid out of the money then the balance if eney (sic) to be Equally Divided between my Children sher and sher (sic) alike And I hereby make and ordain my suns(sic) JOHN and AMOS BOYTE Executor of this my last Will and Testament - in Witness Whereof I the said AMOS BOYTE have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written Siene (sic) seald (sic) and Declard (sic) AMOS (X) BOYTE by the said AMOS BOYTE the testator as his last Will and testament in the prsants (sic) of us ____ ______ before ______ HOWEL BOYTE PATRICK BOYTE Probate May Term 1826 Wills 1776-1927 CR 103.801.2 Folder 1826 Amos Boyte NC State Archives, Raleigh, NC ______________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
